Ipsy Glam Bag Products and Reviews

Ipsy is a montly subscription service that delivers 5 make-up or personal care items right to your door for $10, including shipping. It's a great way to test out products before committing to the full-size/full-price version. While most items in the bag are considered a "deluxe sample" size you do get a full sized product every now and then. Each glam bag is personalized based off a "beauty quiz" which asks about skin and hair color as well as product preferences and willingness to step out your comfort zone. I love trying new products and thought this would be a perfect way to try things out with a minimal financial commitment. Check out my past bags and see what worked and what wound up in the back of my make-up drawer.

This stuff is amazing. It’s so creamy and I feel like it actually moisturizes my lips rather than just making them slippery. It claims to be anti-aging but I’m not really sure if my lips look younger…If I saw this in a store I would definitely throw it in my cart and purchase it again but I don’t think I would go out of my was to go online specifically to purchase it. And at $10 each I think it’s the most expensive chap-stick I own.

Winky Lux- Diamond Complexion Power
in Light

I LOVE this product for what it is…a powder that doesn’t make you look cakey. I tend to not wear powders because I don’t like that ultra-matte look and it tends to accentuate my pores. But this stuff works really well. It’s got a slight shimmer to it so it gives off a “glow” without being blinding. I mostly use it to set my under-eye concealer/highlight. A lot of review I have seen gave negative feedback over the size of the sample but I have been using it a lot since August and still haven’t hit pan so I can’t complain. I think this is actually a product I will purchase again. I have a hard time finding powders that don’t cake on my face. I think it’s worth the $20.

I was SO excited for this one when I saw it in my bag. I am obsessed with painting my nails and I was looking forward to adding a higher end polish to my collection. The formula was a little thin but it went on easily and didn’t streak or get clumpy which was nice. It offered a great looking finish, nice and shiny even before a top coat but I chipped the next day. I used it with a base coat and top coat, just like with any other polish, which normally lasts 4 days without chips. I was super disappointed in the long wear factor but the color is amazing and the finish looks super good the first day. I’ll probably give it another try and I’ll for sure keep it in my collection for an “event” polish (meaning it only needs to look good for a few hours). Totally not worth the $17

Tarte Cosmetics-Tartiest Lash Paint Mascara in Black

This is probably one of my most favorite mascaras of all time and I never would have tried it without Ipsy. My lashes look thick and a million miles long with this stuff. I normally don’t like the plastic style brushed like this one has so I never would have picked this up. But the bristles are close enough together where they grab your lashes and coat all sides when you swipe. My only gripe about this is the bottle, and that’s an Ipsy thing, it’s hard to pull out and you don’t really have anywhere to wipe off excess product, but the full size product isn’t designed like that. At first I thought it would be a no brainer to purchase this when I needed more mascara but I have since gotten another brand I really like too… Maybe I’ll do a side by side comparison. I totally think it’s worth the $23 price tag, I have used the sample a few times a week since August and it’s still going strong. So I’m assuming the full size will last all year.

This was my first “Meh” product in my bag. I didn’t love this, I did its job but I wasn’t wowed by it. I was excited to have a purse size moisturized so I does get used often but I would not go out of my way to purchase a full size version. And at $32 for two ounces there are other products I would reach for first at Target.
