Welcome 2017!

As most people spent the final days of 2016 reflecting on the year, I spent those days looking forward to what 2017 would have in store. I have so much to already be grateful for but I can’t shake the feeling that 2017 will be MY year.

Let’s start with the obvious, the house! I am planning the House Warming BBQ for Labor Day Weekend 2018 (that’s my goal for being done with the entire project). So that means this summer marks the halfway point! So Scary! I feel like I have a million and one things to do and I really need to stay off Pinterest because all that does is add to my wish list…oops. However, I have set out a clear list of items I would like to accomplish each month (and set reasonable expectations of myself), so I can stay on track to be done next year. The biggest thing to tackle this year is the Bathroom expansion/renovation. I’ve done a full gut-job bathroom renovation before and they are not easy, I can only imagine the difficulty of an expansion and then full renovation. At the minimum it will be a good story of what not to do. Aside from the bathroom renovation, I have lots of small things to cross off my list, finishing drywall, painting rooms, adding cabinets to the laundry room. Then the fun stuff, I think the latter part of this year will be dedicated to planning the kitchen renovation and décor! Picking flooring, a new dining table and the biggest change of all, picking new siding and exterior colors! Like I said, so many exciting things coming this year! I can’t wait to share everything with you!

I feel like I hit the lottery with my personal life in 2016. Ty and I grew even closer, I got to see so many wonderful people, I spent the holidays with my family for the first time in years and I got a great promotion at work, transferring to the Construction Department. I’m so fortunate to have had a year like that it’s hard to believe 2017 is shaping up even better. First off, I get to go with Ty on his business trip to Singapore, so beyond excited for that. And it’s hard to believe but this year will be our 10 year anniversary! How did that even happen? So maybe a nice weekend away for that??? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my brother and his wife get to come to Seattle for a visit too. I feel like it’s been ages since I’ve seen them! I am also looking to grow even further with my company and see what else I can learn. It’s so nice working around a bunch of construction workers, they always have the best advice for my projects, maybe this year I can con them into a “weekend work party,” pizza and beer anyone?

As for my blog, I’m looking to grow even more. I had an amazing first year and I’m shocked at how much my site grew. This next year, I’m looking forward to starting my YouTube channel and making videos to go with my posts. I have learned so much from other’s tutorials and I feel like I have a lot to offer that will help even more. I’m also looking to partner with other blogs/brands to grow my exposure. I’ve got my eye on a few places for collabs, let’s see what pans out. The growth last was amazing, so thank you to everyone who has taken a look. There are so many project I have in the works for 2017 so stay tuned.

Of course, I can’t forget to mention my New Year’s Resolution! I know it sounds super cliché but I really want to finally get in shape this year. I know I’m a rather small human being but I’m not anywhere near the shape I should be in (Ever heard of Skinny Fat? That’s me). I have been super fortunate to have my company offer a Health and Wellness program making this task even easier. I plan to get in the best shape possible, especially before Singapore! #fityearthisyear. I also plan to be a little more organized than I have been in the past. I think a lot of that will come with getting the house back in order but I could still improve myself. Once I can sit down and see where I’m lacking I’ll make an actual plan for becoming more organized any tips or tricks on how you like to get and stay organized? I can use all the help I can get. I am also planning to make smaller goals each month. I think New Year’s Resolutions are great but they often get lost in the shuffle and by February are forgotten. Making small, attainable goals each month seems like a much easier way to go about making changes. Wish Me Luck!

I’m going to Welcome 2017 with open arms and see what it has to offer!
